On charges that he was involved in a conspiracy to overturn the 2020 election results, former President Donald Trump was indicted Tuesday.
Trump, the leading candidate in the Republican primary race, has been summoned to appear in court on Thursday.
There are four federal criminal offenses that the indictment charges Trump with.
These offenses include conspiracy to defraud the United States, witness tampering, conspiracy against the rights of citizens, and obstruction of and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding.
Trump also faces federal charges for allegedly obstructing an investigation into classified documents at his resort in Florida.
Immediately after the United States Capitol attack on January 6th, 2021, The Justice Department launched a nationwide investigation.
Apart from the federal charges, Trump is currently facing three criminal charges as well.
Trump is expected at a DC federal courthouse for an arraignment tomorrow. Over 1,000 people have been arrested in connection with the insurrection.
