The first alert about an "armed, dangerous person" at or near the University of North Carolina was sent out shortly after 1 p.m today.
At approximately 3:15 p.m., the university declared the cancellation of all classes and events for the remainder of the day.
Campus police have released a photo of the suspect, describing the individual as armed and dangerous. At least one person has been wounded.
If spotted, authorities advise maintaining a safe distance and promptly dialing 911.
