UNC Armed Person Report, Suspect Still at Large

The first alert about an "armed, dangerous person" at or near the University of North Carolina was sent out shortly after 1 p.m today.

At approximately 3:15 p.m., the university declared the cancellation of all classes and events for the remainder of the day.

Campus police have released a photo of the suspect, describing the individual as armed and dangerous. At least one person has been wounded.

If spotted, authorities advise maintaining a safe distance and promptly dialing 911.

A large police presence was reported on the scene and many officers were patrolling the area with guns drawn.

North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper said, "My office is in communication with law enforcement and officials at UNC-Chapel Hill who are taking precautions to protect campus safety following today’s shooting."
