The highest FICO® or VantageScore® is 850. The people with the highest credit score are usually the lowest-risk borrowers for most lenders.

While 850 is the maximum, any score between 800-850 is in the excellent range. Only about 1% of the population has a perfect score of 850. According to Experian® data, about 21% of consumers have excellent credit scores. You don’t always need the highest credit score to be approved for a loan or mortgage.

Three main things you need to do to get the highest credit score are – to pay your bills on time, pay off all debt except your mortgage, and keep your credit utilization to 4.1%.
