Only 3.1% of the American population has a credit score of 850 which is the highest FICO® Score anyone can achieve and is in the range of an “exceptional” FICO score, according to 2022 Experian® data.
Of this, Gen Z (ages 18-24) make up only 0.1% of the total number of people with a perfect credit score.
Millennials (25-40) make up 4.1% and Gen X (41-56) make up 22.4% of the total number of people with perfect scores.
The highest number of people with a perfect score are in the Baby Boomer category (57-75), accounting for 59.4% of the total. The Greatest Generation (76+) makes up about 14% of the population with a perfect credit score.
Achieving the perfect credit score is possible with a little bit of effort and consistency in financial habits. But it isn’t necessary. Any score between 800-850 is an exceptional or excellent credit score and can get you the best deals. There isn’t much difference between what someone with an 850 score gets compared to someone with an 815. In fact, any score above 720 will unlock good and great deals from lenders.
