Changes in your credit score are caused by changes in your credit reports. Your credit score is calculated based on the information in your credit reports, which are provided by the credit bureaus.
Credit bureaus get this information from lenders where you have active credit accounts. Usually, credit reports are updated once a month or once in 45 days. However, it varies on the lender’s schedule. Credit card companies tend to report credit activity close to the end or beginning of a billing cycle. Each lender has its own timeline, so your credit report may change frequently or not at all based on the information that is updated.Credit Karma updates your credit score every seven days. More recently, it has begun checking your credit reports daily for changes and updates your credit score accordingly. The score you see on Credit Karma is VantageScore® 3.0 based on information from Equifax® and TransUnion®.
According to the website, Credit Karma reflects the actual VantageScore 3.0 because it is pulled directly from the credit bureaus. These are not estimates of your actual credit score, unlike most free credit score services. Keep in mind Credit Karma is not a credit bureau or credit scoring company.
