KeymasterUnlike your personal credit score, which you can access through your monthly credit card statement, you do not receive free credit reports or scores for your business.
You can get summaries of your business’s credit reports from websites like Nav® and Dun & Bradstreet’s® CreditSignal, which can also provide you with alerts when your business credit score changes.
Neither of these resources provides you full access to your credit scores or reports. You can only get summaries. When you do get access to a free credit score or report, it is usually for a short period of time, most often, a free trial.
To access your business credit score, most sources charge a monthly or annual fee. It’s up to you whether the added expense is worth it for your business. Like your personal credit score, your business credit score indicates how much of a risk you pose to lenders when you apply for a new loan or credit card for your business.
But there are some ways you can access your scores for free. For instance, Bank of America® provides free access to two Dun & Bradstreet business credit scores if you are a user of their Business Advantage 360 online bank. These services can be accessed by Bank of America Small Business customers.
Experts advise being cautious when trying to access your credit scores or reports from third-party providers (those who are not official business credit bureaus like Dun & Bradstreet or Experian®). It can be worth it to invest in an annual or monthly plan with the credit bureaus to monitor your credit reports and scores. This is because there are no standardized business credit scores, unlike your personal credit scores. Each bureau has its own scoring criteria and multiple scores that it calculates to assess your business’s financial health.
