American Express® is a credit card payment network like VISA®, MasterCard®, and Discover®. While most of the credit cards are issued by American Express itself, other companies may also approve you for an American Express credit card.

To qualify for an American Express credit card, the credit score requirements vary depending on the issuing company. You may not always need good credit to qualify for an American Express card. If you are applying directly to American Express, you will need a good FICO® Score which is within the range of 670-739. However, some other companies, such as the Credit One Bank for their American Express® Credit Card, may approve applicants with a fair FICO credit score (580-669). Keep in mind that credit score requirements can differ, so it’s essential to check with the specific company you are applying to for accurate information.
