Depending on the credit scoring models being used, there are different credit score ranges. The most common ones, VantageScore® and FICO®, calculate scores within the range of 300-850.
Within this range, there are different categories consumers are grouped into:
FICO categorizes consumers into these five categories:800-850 – excellent
740-799 – very good
670-739 – good
580 – 669 – fair
300 – 579 – poorVantageScore groups consumer credit scores into these categories:
781-850 – excellent
661-780 – good
601-660 – fair
500-600 – poor
300-499 – very poorThere are different versions of VantageScore and FICO too. FICO has industry-specific scores which range from 250-900. There are different scores for auto lending, mortgage, and others.
